I am having a problem with a motherboard in a new system... or at least I think it is the motherboard. I recently bought a new Intel Pentium D 820 dual core along with an intel motherboard (D945GNTLR) and DD2 667 Gold Series OCZ memory (dual-channel).
With both DIMMs of memory installed, the system fails to boot or even display anything on the monitor. So then I tried taking out one of the DIMMs and the system begins boot but hangs after displaying the SVGA BIOS information. The text on the screen seems courrupted sometimes with random characters all around the screen. The problem seems to clear up when the power button on the case is pressed for a moment. Twice (out of about 50 tries) it did make it all the way up to BIOS which seemed to have everything correct for the one DIMM installed.
I talked to OCZ tech support and they have no reason to believe the memory is not compatible with the mobo. However, since this is a new system it could be any part that is faulty.
Does it sound like a bad motherboard? Or is there anything else I could try to narrow it down some more?
