First build
HAd trouble posting, swapped put parts. After swapping PSU (and reseating CPU) system posted. Accepted one stick of memory, Exchanged for new kit. But same problem - first stick in works ok second doesn't. I have reseated it many times with no success.

It is a budget build and I want the kitchen table back so I think I will stick with what I have. But for future reference:

Did the MB come that way or did I break it somehow? IS there any hope for this board?

Hmm. It didn't occur to me to try that - one stick in second slot? I will try that tonight. Thanks.

If this works then it's either the motherboard doesn't like your memory or it is not setting up your memory correctly. You may need to set the memory timings up yourself in bios. Make sure the memory voltage is also set up to spec of your memory.

I tried putting each memory stick only in second slot (with nothing in first) and got the memory error beeps. So can I assume conclusively that I just have a bad board? I just don't have time to play with it right now. I should be able to run what I need with jsut one memory stick. Any reason not to do that for a few months and return it when I have more time? I guess for now I can still return it to MicroCenter but after 30 days I have to send to the manufacturer.
