bad habit: midnight food

I've developed a habit of eating an entire meal for the 4th time of the day...

Tonight on the menu is Lasagna, Meatballs, and some chicken nuggets (I scrape stuff together).

Anyone else have a bad habit of eating Fourth Meal on a nightly basis?

damn you! I'm hungry & wish I had some chicken mcnuggets, meatballs, or leftover lasagna in the fridge.

it's bad because it's a meal right before you lie down for 8 hours. What do nutritionists say about having any food before you sleep? I can't help it though - it's all I think about at this hour.. I guess I should go to bed earlier.

nope... 3 meals/day and I don't snack between meals unless there are extenuating circumstances (ie: I get stuck at work, find myself so hungry I can't think, and my only recourse is the vending machine)

I don't think it matters what time you eat.

Having a slice of cheese cake at midnight is supposedly good for your colon. Supposedly.

Too bad its terrible for your heart and increases the size of your ass.

My heart dances and my colon quivers at the thought of midnight cheese cake.

You should start lifting you will have an excuse.

True that.

All this BS about eating before bed and such. It's all about calories in/out. If i work off 2300 calories a day, and eat back the 2300 calories right back before bed, then I wont gain any more weight than I did if i ate it over time. Period. Remember this is all after your metabolism, etc.

This is especially true when you have a weightlifting regimen like myself, at night I like to get some slow digesting protein (casein) in me. I usually have a cup or two of fat free cottage cheese to accomplish this so my muscles will slowly repair themselves while I rest.

There's nothing wrong with eating before bed, so long as you keep the portions fine and you don't binge eat. If you binge eat right before bed, it's often a sign of a lack of something. Say you don't get any, or close to any, fats or sugars during the day. At the end of the day you might have a craving for ice cream...this is why. (fruit is often a good substitute for this)

I could go on and on, but put simply; eat when you're hungry and avoid skipping meals because thats the worst thing you can do if you want to be healthy.

well, that's better in a way... because if you're getting back up and eating then you're going back to bed with all that food on your teeth.

Five, sometimes six smaller meals a day then a 40 gram monster protein shake just before I go to bed...

1/21...

I'm fixin' for another meal... probably leftover lasagna or leftover taco bell... good thing the bathroom is right next door.

Try drinking two glasses of water when you get that urge.

Big win here.

I've embraced the fact that I like to eat often, so I eat smaller meals more often throughout the day. Also, I leave plenty of room for a hefty white russian night cap.

They say eating peanuts at night gives you bad dreams. I do it all the time, and not just a few, but a bowl full, equivalent to a full meal. No harm yet!

I usually don't have the hunger for an actual meal, usually more like the munchies and eat a random snack.
