I get this message after I reset the bios with the jumper after the bad flash:

Award Bootblock BIOS v1.0

BIOS ROM checksum error

Detecting floppy drive A media...
INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER

I put a system disk in there but it still says the same thing. Am I screwed?

If you have a bad flash then you may be screwed. However, it sounds like it's looking for a way to fix this, like it has a built-in bad-flash fixing thingy. What I'd do is make a system disk, put the BIOS flashing utility on it, and a copy of the BIOS on that disk. Then put that in and turn the box on. Some motherboards have a built in thing where if there is a bad flash and you turn it on with a disk in that has the BIOS on it, it will flash to that BIOS automatically. Worth a shot...

If that doesn't help you, then it's time to get a new BIOS chip or new motherboard :(

I think you might be lucky. There are some instructions on the internet (search these groups or google news groups) for creating a flash disk. It has instructions for creating the autoexec.bat and renaming the rom file.

I just had a bad flash on my asus a7v and I have to get a new bios. It sounds like you maybe able to get by with a flash disk set up right.

Maybe that will help you.
