The majority of retailers, any retailers, save for some of the high dollar stores, are nothing more than large chains, with employees functioning on 1 brain cell, no service. One or two registers open out of 15. Total apathy to everything except their cigarette/pot breaks, lunch time and selling you an extended warranty.
Retail service in America is an assembly line of money takers. They know how to take money, put it in a drawer and give change. Anything beyond that is a science project to them.
That is why 95% of my purchases for the past 2 or 3 years have been exclusively online. I educate myself about the product. What I want, and how much I'm willing to spend. Often finding free or near free deals here and in other forums.
I buy everything from shoes, clothes, computer stuff, grills, even shoe laces on line. No traffic. No giant SUVs and Monster Trucks to maneuver around, no lines, and in most cases, no tax.
