Being the "free tech support" that I am, I got stuck trying to fix a friend's PC. Anyways, what's happening is this.
I'm trying to run IBM's Drive Fitness Test. I do the quick test, and it comes back with no problems.
I then try to run the "advanced" test. It seems to run fine all the way through the media test, and at that point, it dumps me out to the command prompt about half way through the S.M.A.R.T. test. No errors - just a command prompt. I've ran the test twice and both times it did the same thing.
The actual issue is with XP Home not booting up. It appears to blue screen, but it seems to flash so fast I can't see what errors out, so I don't know what's causing it. Safe mode and Last Known good doesn't seem to help either. Running MemTest right now to make sure the memory is good too. Short of formatting and starting fresh or replacing the drive , does anyone know what would cause the DFT to dump me out during the SMART test?
