i had a p4 to die on me last week what can cause it to go bad it was up and running for a while then i lost the video , then i moved it to another motherboard and it did not respond at all there was a conflict with an integreted onboard sound and an add in pci sound card (forgot to disable onboard sound in bios setup which should not cause cpu to fry, am i right ?)🙁

it was p4 1.5 ghz 478 pin i did nothing to the motherboard it was straight out of the box. thanks for the reply.🙁

thanks paul.

How do you know it died on you? Do you get a video signal or beep when the computer boots? And what's this about a video/soundcard conflict? Could you explain a bit more clearly what the problem(s) is/are ?

mr. jiffylube the beep codes were 2 beeps pause 1beep pause then 8 beeps pause 2 beeps then pause then 1beep. no video at all. this uses an AMI bios chip. their according to their codes it says video read/write failure if i remove the video card it still gives me the same beep codes. i've cleared the cmos it still does the same thing. i put the cpu on an identical motherboard it will not do anything at all, no lights no nothing. dead.🙁

u need a spare vga to try on it, even when u remove the vga card and boot it will give u the same beep as it will treated the case as no vga card detected or vga fail,

u need another vga card to try on it, or u can try to reinssert firmly the card
