Hi folks,
I recently built a new system for my buddy using an Iwill KK266 and a T-bird 850. When i initially set it up, it worked fine oc'd at 1.03 gigs or so.. then about 3 weeks later, (few days ago), when he turned it on, it suddenly developed problems loading windows. I tried sticking in different HD's, and they all didnt work.. but when i stuck the same HD's into MY computer, they loaded up fine. it seemed to have difficulty loading up, as even safe mode wouldnt start, and then it told me an inf. file was missing, and then it said some other windows start up file was missing too (i got this message using both 98 and 2k). then today, it got worse; i got a different error, and it wouldnt even let me get to the memory test - instead it said "bios rom checksum" some other some other, then tells me to put in a boot up disk in A:.. when i put in the win2k (he runs win2k) start up disk, nothing happens.. the next error tells me "awdflash.exe file could not be found." What's going on here? and how did this happen? like i said.. no parts were taken out except the CPU for about 5 min 3 weeks ago to check something, but i dont recall ANYthing that i or anyone did to it that would cause anything like this (i just drew in the L1 lines, and yes they are correctly drawn).
I'd gotten some comments before about the problem possibly being due to the CPU going south and trying to flash the bios by itself since it IS asking for an awdflash file. Having taken some advice I decided NOT to flash the bios, as someone had told me that that would have fried the mobo. What to do, what to do... by the way, resetting CMOS a hundred times didnt reset anything in BIOS. All comments welcome and very appreciated. Thanks in advance guys!
