My system

Cooler Master 832 Case
Intel E6600 Core 2 Duo
Intel D975XBX2 Motherboard (Bad Axe2)
2 X 1GB of Crucial Ballistix Tracer PC2-8000 DDR2 memory
1 X 150 GB WD Raptor X SATA Hard drive (connected to Black Sata motherbaord connector 0)
2 X 320 GB Seagate 7200.10 16 MB cache SATA Hard drive (connected to Black Sata motherbaord connector 2 &3)
EVGA Geforce 8800 GTS 320 MB superclocked video card
Corsair HX620 620 Watt Power supply
Lite-On LH-20A1S 20X SATA DVD Writer (connected to Black Sata motherbaord connector 1)
Samsung SH-S183L 18X SATA DVD Writer (connected to Blue Sata motherbaord connector 1)
5 Silenx Ixtrema 120mm fans + Cooler Master cross flow fan

The computer POST fine - even though, I didn't see a ram memory check. BIOS is setup to boot from the optical drive. MY boot drive sequence in set-up as follows in BIOS:

Floppy
Lite-On Optical Drive
Raptor X Hard Drive

I have the SATA port set up as ACHI in BIOS as I don't intend to set-up RAID at this point.

I have the Windows XP SP2 disk in the Lite-On optical drive. The system prompts me to hit any key to boot from CD (which I do). Then when prompted, I hit F6 to load the Raid/Sata drivers. Then I prompted to Hit the S key to load drivers (Which I do). I load the Intel Matrix Storage TEchnology RAID driver diskette into the floppy drive and hit enter. The system appears to read the diskette. Then the system prompts me to hit S again to load more dirvers, so I hit the S key and attempt to the Marvel drivers. The system says it can't read the Marvell Sata Controller Raid driver Diskette because it contains an unknown file system. So I continue the installation with out loading the Marvell drivers.

The system then prompts me to reinstall the Intel Matrix Storage Technology Raid Driver Diskette( which I do). The system attempts to copy file iaStor.sys then stops and shows the following error:

File iaStor.sys caused an unexpected error (4096) @ line 2113 in D:\xpsprtm\base\boot\setup\oemdisk.c.

What could be causing this? Do I have a bad Floppy disk? Are the Raiddriver disk corrupt? Am I doing something incorrectly? Can someone post step by step, how they got loaded the OS to their Bad Axe 2 motherboard? I a relative newbit. Thanks.

I have a very similar setup to you. To get my Raptor setup as AHCI, I first set it correctly in the BIOS. I also had that drive on the Intel SATA ports. I did pretty much did it like you did and used F6 to load the AHCI drivers for the ICH7. I'm only using the Intel controller and have the Marvell disabled so I didn't have to worry about that one. That'd just be the same precedure though. I'm not sure why it's giving you the error though. Can you get a driver online and make it on a new floppy? (I'm assuming you're using the one that came with the board).

I've tried but I can't get AHCI to work on both the Intel Matrix controller and the Marvell controller
at the same time. I think (but, not 100 % sure ) that this is a known issue and I have contacted Intel support, trying to get it resovled or at the very least published on their known trouble list for this
motherboard.

I had the exact same error. I went to intels website and downloaded new drivers and it worked fine.

I'm just having a problem loading XP64 bit on it.. I keep getting the BSOD... vista 64 loaded fine...

I had the same problem

try disconnecting the dvd drive for some reason they don't work with ahci.

you also might try running the dvd on the unused controller. I just switched to a ide dvd drive i had.

and every thing worked fine

good luck

I know this is an old post but i'm having similar problems.

I'm going to try and update my bios in stages. I did the full update and I'm still getting the "No Bootable device -- " message. I tried it with my IDE dvd drive and had no luck. I'm trying to load windows xp pro, the disk is bootable, it works in my old PC.
