Seen a lot of these at Anandtech for some weeks now. I'm browsing, and suddenly I'm simply whisked away from the site to some scummy site trying to offer me free iPhones or some other scummy nonsense. They forward across so many pages it's impossible to use the back button to return to where you were. The only thing that works is closing the tab altogether and opening a new one, then browse back to where you were.
Also, I've had Chrome tabs crashing with out of memory errors simply by having an Anandtech tab open for a while - which I consider kind of impressive, since I run 64-bit chrome with 16GB RAM in my PC and "unlimited" page file to a half-terabyte SSD (which is less than 50% full.) I suspect this is due to some funky javascript nonsense also connected to ads; I've seen similar things on other sites these days.
I never use adblockers, but stuff like this is making me want to reconsider.
These sort of things didn't happen back when Anand ran the site. Stop using such damn scummy ad providers! It's ruining the place.
