I've been running a 9800Pro by Sapphire and I've been getting a few issues when running it for long periods of time where the entire screen would simply smear and the graphics card would stop responding until restarted. The card orignally gave me heat problems and I simply swapped it into an old shuttle board which only ran 4x AGP and that resolved the issue. Now I need to use this in a more powerful system and need to get this problem resolved while the card is still under warranty.
Here is the issue, newegg lists the specs for this card as follows:
GPU Radeon 9800PRO
Core clock 380MHz
PixelPipelines 8
Memory
Memory Clock 680MHz
Memory Size 256MB
Memory Interface 256-bit
Memory Type DDR
ATI Tool Lists the GPU as 378 and Memory at 324.
Now, I also have this card:
GPU Radeon 9800PRO
Core clock 380MHz
PixelPipelines 8
Memory
Memory Clock 680MHz
Memory Size 128MB
Memory Interface 256-bit
Memory Type DDR
ATI Tool Lists the GPU as 378 and the Memory as 338.
Why is the 9800Pro 128 reporting the correct memory clock where the 9800Pro 256 is displaying 324(648 instead of 680)? Also note that the 256 card is the one I have had numerous issues with. Is the memory accurate or should I RMA the 256 card ASAP?
