I need some help in determining what is the problem causing my bad 3Dmark scores after 146Mhz on my FSB. I get around 8550 when my fsb is at 146 and processor is at 1.53Ghz. but when i go above, 148Mhz and 1.55Ghz the score drops to 8250. Then i tryed fsb 150Mhz and processor at 1.5Ghz and still my score is around 8250. I have to be doing something wrong here.. please a little help!!

system:

AthlonXP 1600+ (AGOIA) TB/a (will clock it higher later) it can go!!
Abit KR7A (non-raid - bios flashed to N6)
samsung ddr3200 256MB cas3 @ cas 2 2 5 2 t1 (mem populated in first lost)
Maxtor 60gig 7200
*gainward goldsample GF3 ti200 @ 225/535* (will clock it higher later)
SMC nic 10/100 (1244TX)
TBS Montego pci sound card
lite on 40x
LG dvd 40x
standard floppy

i got a pentium class hsf on the northbridge and the vid card and adequite cooling everywhere else.

!!will be reposted else where!!! (must have answer)

I also use 3dMark to get optimal performance ( for my Online Gaming) from my pc.
CodeCreatures is another one to use. (from my experience its harder to get running cux its intense, it really pushes your VC)

As you raise FSB ... things get out of spec.

Generally, its a slow process to get things tuned properly.

My 1st guess is that your memory needs tweaking.

Try raising your command rate to 2T.
(I didnt know that cas 3 can run 1T)

Unless you got some XMS memory, FSB can choke 3dMarks.

Use some of the memory tools that are listed in this forum.
You might want to do some homework on your MB and others OC projects.
Oh ,,, and be sure to leave your VideoCard at defualts. (then oc when things are optimal)

put videocard to default, overclock system, then overclock videocard

sometimes, overclocking a videocard will produce a negative effect on performacen (instructions geting paged instead of being executed on teh fly)....ive seen it happen before

try that and see if it works

thanks guys for the help. defaulting the vid card helped in gettting a higher FSB. but still hasnt fixed my low FPS after 146Mhz fsb.

and Noid, samsung memory is used in some corsair XMS modules. Plus the mem is 200Mhz cas3 so running it at 166Mhz allows for low timings as mine.

and agian thanks

try raising the ram before the core onthe videocard
that works beter than jacking up core first from what ive seen

Could be the divider? You could be pushing the AGP/PCI bus too hard. It also could be your memory
timings, you might have to ease up a bit. If you have your video overclocked also, that might be
pushing it over the edge.

I never overclocked an Athalon, but I had quite the trials OC my 3.06 even with Corsair 3200 cas 2.

I have to run by SPD, which is cas 2.5 6,3,3 If I used anything higher, my video took a huge hit.
Don't know if I can go above 144FSB, because that is all I have tried, and it is stable.
