I actually think it would be better if you used sausage, cooked it mostly through to get some browning, use sausage instead of bacon and make sure the egg is still runny.  Would be similar to a scotch egg but without deep frying.
There is NOTHING like sausage and runny egg yolk.
We make a similar hash brown casserole.  Cook some sausage, mix with frozen hash browns and toss in oven.  When the has browns are getting close make some little cups, like 6 of them and crack an egg into the cup you made.  Take out when eggs are cooked but runny.  Great hang over food.
