Bacon inflation effects?

I noticed that the Smithfield Bacon sold at numerous grocery stores no longer have the degree of variety than in the past. Only the Hometown Original and Cherrywood are present on the shelves, and everything else is no longer sold. And those varieties have sugar in the bacon, which makes it more appetizing and more unhealthy.

I've taken to buying the ends and pieces. I found there is a LOT more meat in each package.. The nice clean, fancy strips have little to no meat at all, mostly fat. Ends and pieces usually have fairly large chunks of meat and much less fat overall per package. And they're usually cheap. I often find them under $1.50/lb.

Maybe just your locale, my nearby Safeway has two varieties of hickory smoked and then thick cut.

However, too much bacon WILL lead to inflation.

Probably, but it's all the chains. Teeter, Giant, Safeway. Going to have to double check Walmart because I usually don't even look at the bacon there.

The Safeway and Giant had the bacon on sale, which usually gets me interested...but I looked for the Lower Sodium and well...there's only two flavors on the shelves.

Local Safeway here had a 3 day sale, Fri, Sat, Sun for their 24oz thick cut bacon for $5.

I rarely eat bacon anymore but when I do I prefer Boars Head brand thick-cut.
