I'm not sure if anyone here is really familiar with backup tapes, but at this point, its worth a try. I backup our system using Arcserve IT. I had a RAID 5 unit lose all of its disks recently, and so lost an entire database. I have 9 tapes of backup, however, the first tape went bad. I know that the data I need is on the 5th tape. When the first tape goes bad, Arcserve doesn't allow you to access the files on the other tapes, as I'm assuming the first tape is the index of the entire backup.
What I need to know is if there is any software out there that will allow me to just access each tape directly to pull the data off it it manually. I found a recovery software called Easy Recovery by Ontrack, but it will only interface with FAT and NTFS media. Thanks for the help!
