Backup Strategy for a N00b

Just curious...if I had a NAS hooked up to my router (and thus my desktop PC) and was uploading large files to the cloud (e.g. 30GB), would it slow down internet usage on my desktop computer?

For only 4tb of data, unless you care about speed just go with external drives. Go buy 1-3 4tb+ externals and rotate them at your offsite storage per week/month/whatever.


Yeah, I think you're right, and that's probably what I'll do. I think I will forget about RAID and just get an external 4 bay HDD box and slowly populate it with 1TB disks. Then once a week, swap in a disk to do a backup for off-site.

Cloud storage doesn't seem to be a good option for me when I only have 3 Mbps up.
