Hey guys,

I have a question. I currently have 2x3TB external drives maxed out and looking at 2x 5/6TB so I can start filling them up.

I would love to have those 5/6TB drives backed-up fully.

Is there a better solution to what I want to accomplish than 4 external drives on my desk?

Question: What kind of budget do you have? There is a solution... but it ain't cheap.

Sorry for the late reply. Been real busy with work.

Well at around $1000 I have to start wondering if its worth it.

I might have another option. Bestbuy is having a boxing week sale on 5TB Seagate external drives for $170 (roughly). That would give me abit more breathing room and I'm thinking if I buy new drivers every few years when prices go down, they won't get old enough to fail (knock on wood for very random problems).

I could get 4 of those and find a good backup program.

You can always offset some of the cost of the new drives by wiping and selling off the older ones. :)

Multi-drive enclosures?

That is a lot of data. What are you backing up, and how are you doing it. I'd make sure you have an optimized backup plan then meet the hardware requirements. For instance, are you backing up the right way, if its personal drives, are you using incremental, or differential backups, or are you doing whole system backups.

Unless you move to some remote location that has slow or no internet service, hoarding media will have less attraction the older you get and the more content you pile up.
Use your $$ towards some streaming services and watch all you want & more.
