Backup solution

I need to find the best free backup solution, for backing up onto a spare hard drive. Not necessarily an entire drive needs to be copied, but mostly some big folders. Thanks.

Anyone? I am looking at Robocopy, Second Copy and Cobian Backup.

I'm a long-time user of Robocopy and I use it mainly to backup (mirror) files to an external HD. However, I recently found Syncback and think it's extremely easy to setup and works great for backup, mirroring, and sync'ing.

I highly recommend it and a free version (the one I use) is available.

If one of the HDDs (either your source or your destination drive) is a Maxtor, you can use MaxBlast3, downloadable free from maxtor.com.

It'll mirror entire drive, or just folders you select. That's how I mirror my hard drives.

i installed cygwin and use rsync. i've also used ntbackup in the past.
