Backup software?

I have a sudden urge to backup all the pictures I've taken.. It would really suck to lose them.

What's a good program to use to backup to CDR? I'd like to be able to just select the whole directory, click a button and then insert a new CD everytime it prompts me.

Is there anything like that available?

Fsck the software forum. ;)

I visit here, and occasionally FS/FT and Hot Deals.. So unless you want me to post it in either of them... yeah.

I don't want to know what the people of Software use to backup. I want to know what the people of ATOT use, damnit!

:p

I looked around in Nero, but didn't really find anything? I don't want to have to select 700mb worth of pics manually each CD....

Then again, I only have Nero 5.5...

That's the whole point of the thread. :p I don't want to do that.... It'd be a huge pain in the ass, since I have folders and then subfolders with the modified(resized, etc) pics in them...

There's gotta be a backup program that will just burn away, and prompt me for a new CD each time one gets full.....

That's not the damn point! :frown::p:D

I have 7.07gb in 11,086 files and 420 folders(It's a sign!) that I want to backup.. Would YOU want to do it manually if there's probably freeware software that could do it for you? :p

how about a single DVD?!?!?
It'd take two, and I don't have a DVD-R... I've been wanting one though.

I do, however, have this 12x PleXWriter CDRW(first drive with BurnProof!) that I bought for 300$ in like 2001.. so I will use that. :p

You could use Winrar or something and makerar archives of it. Just make sure to put the software to extract with on one of the cd's. Also, a downside to this is that to recreate the files, you need to first get all the rar files copied back onto a hard drive or something and then you can extract.

That's the easiest solution I can think of because rar archives will split up the files for you.

I thought about it, but.. WTF?

There has to be backup software that will do this automatically.... Surely I'm not the only one thats wanted to "drag and drop" a large folder, and let the burning commence?

It should not be hard for the burning software to simply fill the disc, and then ask for another one.. until it's done. If a folder won't fit, prompt.

I have the answer you seek.

Nero has a backup solution built into Nero 6. Its called Nero BackItUp. You select a drive/folder(s) you want to backup. Insert your media and it will prompt you to put in a new disc if required. Pretty simple.

Yeah, I found this solution.

Unfortunately it isn't working for me for some reason. It spits back an "Illegal Disc" error everytime the 1st disc is done burning....

Haven't really looked into it much.
