i want to back up my "my documents" folder to a 16GB USB drive. The files won't all transfer because of various problems:
Windows delayed write failed
file name being too long or path being too long.

what can i do to transfer files to the usb drive as a backup. is there a way to mount it as a hard drive so that a simple copy operation will work?

any other advice?

thanks,

The Delayed Write Failure is a warning. You have a problem with a hard drive, cabling, or controller.

The "name too long" problem can be solved by using an alternative copy program, like Microsoft's RoboCopy. Be sure to read the directions carefully. It doesn't actually copy "files". It's designed to copy entire directories.

Or, "fix" the length of your filenames or directory names. There's approximately a 256-character limit for the total file name, including the ENTIRE path.
