Backup Domain Controller? Suggestions Please!

Here is the scenario I'm trying to get working:

I have a customer that has a NT Server and also have another server doing Exchange. The Exchange server is a Dual Intel Xeon 2.0 GHz so it has PLENTY of power left to be a backup domain controller.

My question is what are the appropriate steps to making it a backup domain controller? I'd love to make their network completely reduntant so that if server #1 fails the backup server would pick up. My other thought was if possible have the 2 servers mirror each other. When a employee saves something to the primary server it would also write to the backup. How feasable is this?

Thanks for your help; if you need more details just let me know!!!

Thanks,

If's its an NT 4 based server you can just use the server manager to promote the server to a backup domain controller, it's a bit harder if its an AD based 2k or 2k3 based server and you'll need to go through more steps to setup AD on that PC and set it up as a BDC
