Backslash Key Problem

Okay, so when I went to command prompt on my computer at work today and wanted to use the backslash key on the keyboard, it auto generated a hash (#) symbol instead of a backslash symbol (\). I'm unable to change this! Any ideas on how to solve this annoying little problem? I'm using Windows XP (SP2).

TIA

Thanks! I just tried it and this method works perfect on my PC at home, so should work at office as well.

Any ideas as to why the backslash key is generating a hash though?

Looks like I found an alternative:

To get backslash ( \ ) if the backslash key is not working:

Press keys 9 and 2 while holding down Alt key.

To get frontslash ( / ):

Press keys 4 and 7 while holding down Alt key.

🙂

Have you swapped the keyboard with another one to see if the problem is the keyboard or the PC itself?

Okay, so I tried using a different keyboard but the problem persists. 😕
