Leather backpacks are as tacky as wearing diesel jeans, and uber ugly and fruity.

Jansport will last you about 3-4 years before it breaks down (seams coming apart in the bottom).

If you can find it, it's a good one. I've used it in college and at work and it still looks like new. Multiple compartments, lumbar support and airlift strap system that makes it seem like you don't really have a load.

Holy mother of god... 140$!?!??!?!! I don't have that kind of money for a BACKPACK!

I paid 70 for it

If you want something more unique, try an army surplus.

Otherwise, go to REI or Mountain Equipment. I haven't humped a backpack to school since grade 12. Used a purse all the way through college and carried books in bags or in hand.

My wife has one, she's been using it since gradeschool and the thing looks practically brand new.

My father has one of their bags (kind of like a carry on bag sized thing with a shoulder strap but with dividers for files and his laptop). He's on his third one of their bags over 10 years, he had a zipper break once and the fabric wearing through on a corner on another. Both times LL Bean replaced it, free of charge.

While the styling is a little blander than you'll find with other companies the bags are well made and they stand behind their work.

It's funny how you don't have a care in the world for a person who is in critical condition from severe burns simply because you've "never cared for Blink-182 anyway", but seem so desperately worried about the backpack you'll be going to school with.
