Anybody every do it, I was reading something earlier that made me think about it?
How would you go about doing it, you hear about people backpacking in Europe but, in the states I would think that it would be harder and expensive considering how spread out things are?

Not that I'm necessarily thinking about doing it but, I think it would be cool.
hehe what kinda supplies would you need....

I would have backup plans. Such as credit cards and cell phone. I would also have SOMETHING for self defense. Most people in America are nice (at least, nicer than most think) but I still don't trust everyone.

Carry some MREs as well. Wont be the best tasting, but they WILL give you the energy you need.

First aid kit.
Cash - plastic, bills AND coins
Hiking equipment, obviously
Bug spray

Other stuff, but a lot can be scrounged from nature itself.

Backpacking around America just wouldn't work in the same way as in Europe. Backpacking across America on the otherhand happens all the time. The main South->North ones are the AT, PCT, and CDT. If you're going coast to coast? The Lewis and Clark Trail will get you most of the way. It may be hard to do it all in one year though.

Pack a duffel, stick out your thumb, and hit the Road.........and don't forget to read Kerouac's On The Road. It's a must read. At least, it should be for today's youth.
