Agreed. The price on this mobo/combo with the KT600 is indeed @ $69.99 & the Duron mobo/combo has dropped to $39.99 before shipping. :Q

What da crud! Oh, well. Everytime I think I've been duped by some deal that somehow became cheaper AFTER I order the stuff, I think about my trip to that bar/club in NYC. I paid $12 for that no good tasting Jamaican (I think) imported beer and $2 tip. Considering that I ordered my set on Wed. night and received it on Friday morning (on the cheapest ground shipping), I think money was well spent.

Sempron 2500+ and KT600 motherboard
Ordered one too!😀
Gonna upgrade my nephew's computer.
He's been running a 366/550 celeron with a Velocity 100 card.

I'll probably get a 9600/128bit card to put in this board.
Could I use the 3dfx card in the meantime?
Is it just the current Intel boards that can't use older AGP cards?
Is it dependent on the board mfg. or the chipset that's used?

I Haven't followed AMD in a couple years so I can't say offhand performance wise.

With the KT600, you can:

- put in PC3200 (DDR400) ram, which will allow better processing bandwidth compared to PC2700 (in other words, your computer will be more powerful, assuming your comparing tthe same amount of ram)
- use 8X AGP video cards (the KT333 is limited to 4X cards)
- SATA drives (KT333 doesn't support this)

Basically, a more "current technology"-friendly mobo than the KT333, well all things being equal.

Read up
here for my info.

Check your CMOS Jumper. More than likely it's set to short/clear CMOS from the factory.

I had the same problem with mine. Once I moved the jumper over to the set position it posted just fine. 🙂 They do this to conserve the battery.

I had a previous CPU deal get backordered on me. The motherboard came in after about a month, and they shipped it right out.

apparently its the CPU that is OOS. I got them to give me a combo that was $89.99 for the same price. It did take about an hour and a half of my time though. Not sure if I would order from them again.

My experience have lots of timeof getting bad ECS motherboards ( roughly 50% defect rate for me) have taught me to avoid them . If the deal is good enough for the processor alone the I'll fleabay the motherboard (not even open the box. However Fry's B&M sometimes has unadvertised non ECS motherboard/PU deals which are competitve with Newegg so it also good to ak when you are there.

Because of what everyone said about the ECS mobo, I hesitated. But, I guess not all ecs boards are bad. Man, it fired right up! No glitches..., very smooth install and operation. It really is rock solid. I highly recommend it. All you have to do is change 2 jumpers for 166fsb. The factory default has 100fsb. I think the jumpers are #8&9, and all you have to do is move them to 2-3 slot. I probably should get another one, but "only one per household" and they are not out of stock.

got my kt600/sempron shipped for $82. pretty good deal if you build boxes for friends/relatives. its a sad day when newegg no longer offers competitive combo deals like this =( but newegg still rocks =)
