Backordered opteron @ Monarch?

Do any of you know which bios, for my A8N sli premium, will work for my Opteron? The Asus site only list compatibility up to X2's (no official support)
 
If you flash to the latest bios the board will recognize the processor. I was using bios 1014 and it said AMD unkown processor, however it booted to windows and I had no problems reaching 2800MHz, when I flashed to the latest bios 1015, on boot up the board recognized my Opteron and I reset my settings for the speed I am running at now.

FSH42NA bios 1009 should work for you that would be the latest for the Premium board,

Just select motherboard and next 939 pin and then your board and it will bring you to the bios you need.

Many thanks. I'm currently running 1008 bios with a San Diego 3700. An X2 3800 caught my eye and I thought I was done "upgrading" - will it never end?

LMAO.................you are never done upgrading...................it never ends.....it will be a while before I upgrade both my rigs now.

Here's an update on my situation. Ordered DFI nF4 Ultra-D & Opty 170 last Wednesday (yes, 7 days ago). Called Friday, found out they are waiting on the the board to come in to ship it. I tell them either overnight the chip on Friday or overnight both on Monday if they are confident they will get the DFI board in on Monday. No DFI board Monday. My chip was supposed to overnight Monday.

It is now Wednesday. Chip has not shipped. I have been assured it will ship today. I've dealt with Michael on their 1-800# and he is VERY nice, but seems to be either bullsh!tting me or has some seriously incompetent superiors. I swear I've talked to him more than I have my own mother this past week! I'll be on the phone again with him a in few minutes because I have yet to see a tracking # in my inbox. That fvcking chip is going out today if I have to drive down to Georgia and get it myself :|
 
FYI:

spoke to Monarch this AM to see if the 165's came in. The person I spoke to (michael??) asked OEM or retail. I said OEM and he said that they got a "bunch" of them so I guess their shipment came in today. As I'm typing this, I don't if they've updated their website yet. I asked if my order was shipping and he told me it was in the "process" of shipping so I guess I'll keep my fingers crossed. As long as I get my chip by Thanksgiving, I'll be one happy gobbler!

So if you're looking for an OEM 165, you might want to give Monarch a shot. The last time I checked the Egg, they weren't even listing the OEM's as backordered anymore.

Update on this for those who care: my chip shipped today. It will be here tomorrow with my DFI Ultra-D from ZZF. 😀

I got my tracking number today! Luckily I placed my order yesterday before the price "adjustment" so my OEM 165 cost me $290 plus shipping.

Personally, I don't have a problem with a retailer raising their prices when a new shipment comes in. I do have a problem with them raising the price on existing stock ever time the market hiccups. Like a gas station raising the price of their existing gas supply just because the cost of barrel of crude went up a few cents.
 
Just ordered a 165 from Monarch last night. I upgraded to 3 year warranty and 2 day shipping which brought the price to $358.
The website showed the oem version as IN STOCK. This was as 11pm PST. Before that it had been showing as out of stock.
So I jumped on it... now was it for real??
 
Yup it apparently was for real. I started calling them last week to check for updated ETA on the chips and the guy told me to "check back" next Wed (yesterday) even though the site indicated 11/28 for the OEM's. Being impatient, I started calling back this Monday and the salesguy told me they had an order for over one hundred OEM's coming in Wed and only about 4-5 people on backorder for them. Rather than wait till Wed to order, I ordered Tues. before the price adjustment (I suspected it might go up soon) and my chip shipped out last night. FINALLY, my impatient buying tendencies paid off!

WORD! I ordered a 170 as an impulse buy and it was the right choice since all the Opty prices jumped when stuff started going OOS 😉

Now if I had only been home today to sign for it 🙁

Luckily I have my toys shipped to my work (hospital) so there's always someone to sign for my stuff. However, I think the shipping dept. is beginning to suspect my packages are related to patient care - he-he.😉

 
Yeah I got my tracking number tonight for the 165 I ordered from Monarch this morning. They must be stepping up for the holidays because that is pretty impressive turnaround for a chip that some your saying is discontinued...
 
My opteron is "on vehicle for delivery"!!!! I must say that Monarch came through in spades on this one. I get back with the stepping.🙂
