Backing Up Is Hard To Do

I am trying to backup my 30GB Maxtor, internal hard drive (which has about 8GB used) to my Maxtor 1394 FireWire, 40GB external hard drive. I tried to Use Norton Ghost 2001, but it did not recognize my external drive. Does anyone know of any software that I could use for backup that would work with the external hard drive? I am using Windows ME operating system and the backup software could work in Windows or DOS but must be capable of handling large hard drives.

Additionally, I have used MS Backup, which does work, but it seems to have some file size limit which inhibits it from backing up in one file so, I have to back up my Program Files Directory in one file and everything else in another file. I can't find any data on MS Backup file size limitations. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know of any Image software that supports firewire yet. Can you make a seperate partition on your 30GB drive to copy the Image to first, then in Windows transfer it over to the external?

I do know there is a 4GB limit in windows for any 1 file, thats why you can't make a solid backup.

In the Windows 9X,ME you can't have a file over 4GB's. You can have a file with a bunch of other files in it more then 4Gigs. But not a solid file like a zip or rar file.
