i have some files on a small HD that i want to backup before formatting and installing an OS onto.

seein as i cant do it from windows and these files need to be spanned across floppys - will this be possible?

PKZIP will compress the originals, although I'm pretty sure you can change parameters to tell it the percentage...

And, it does have switches to tell it to "span" across several disks...make sure you use the right one !

And, finally, make sure you run the check zip switch to verify integrity of zip file before erasing source files !

:D
