backing up DVDs...

so, i'm backing up my DVD collection, using DVD shrink to back them up and nero to burn. the problem is, every so often problems occur in playback... for example, stuttering, freezing like the disc is scratched, which i assure you is not.

is this a problem with the DVD burner, DVD player, disc itself, or because of the DVD shrinking part?

Are you trying to play them in a set-top player or in your computer? Some set-top players can be very finicky about burned DVDs in general.

I had that problem once because I was using cheap media....then one day I turned on data verification and all my discs were failing. I switched media and no more problems. I'd suggest trying the data verification method after burning a disc just to test the media.

LG has dvd burners that burn discs that are compatible on all playback media. The new triple format burners make dvd playback very easy. Yes, I agree that data verification is a great way to verify data. It takes a little longer, but guaranteed results are what you want in burning.
