Backing up DVD: The Notebook

I bought the notebook for my gf but the way she treats discs i want to make a backup incase it gets scratched..lol

ive tried twice. once with dvd shrink into nero6, the menu plays but when i press play nothing goes for the actual movie and then it kicks me back out of the whole dvd after several seconds.

i also tried with dvd shrink, then dvd decrypter.

ive gotten all of my other dvds backed up this way, is there a new encryption that is on this movie, or am i doing something wrong.

any advice is appreciated!

There is a new technique of putting currupt sectors on a disc to try and stop the copying of DVD's. Not sure if that's what's happening but it may be.

From what I've read here, it shouldn't be a problem copying that movie. Maybe you have a defective disc, even though it is new?

Have you tried it without the menus?

I personally back up movies by re-authoring & stripping out everything but the primary video track + the best audio track (DTS > Dolby > whatever else). It's amazing how many movies will fit with no recompression on a standard single layer DVD.

Kinda depressing really.
