I know most of us aren't sure of how things in Egypt got to the current state.

Interesting read. I think the military definitely did the right thing to get rid of the islamo-wackos pushing for another iran like country. Either way the country is screwed though. You either have military dictator (or a puppet of the military), or you have elections and the idiots elect islamo-crazies. Turkey is in a similar situation, just not as far down the road.

Egyptians had a shot and they blew it by "voting for Allah" through the Muslim Brotherhood. Maybe they'll get a second chance, but I don't know if they deserve it.

The problem is that the Muslim Brotherhood is the most organized group in Egypt, and they get the most votes in open elections. But they're not interested in being inclusive of everyone in Egypt, they're not interested in tolerance and in respecting the will of the people. They're interested in establishing an Islamic theocratic dictatorship. And now that they're not getting their way, they're going the route of civil war.

Here's how I see it.

1) Egyptians topple Dictator and push for demoracy.

2) Comes quicker than expected and only group organized enough to actually have weight in said democracy is the luny fanatical muslim base. Everyone else is left trying to assemble entirely new parties, etc.

3) Fanatical Muslims win the election

4) Fanatical Muslims don't do anything to run the government except spend their time trying to mold the government right back into a fanatical dictatorship.

5) Military knows this isn't what the people wanted, steps in with a giant 'NOPE' and swats down the ban hammer.

6) Fanatical muslims flip their shit and start raging out, so military decides to pull no punches and hit back.

While it sucks to see what's going on, to me this is the process of a modern secular movement stepping up to muslim extremism, and the only thing these backwards extremists understand is violence. Who better to fight fire with fire than the military...

I saw this pic in the paper today. I think it pretty much says it all for why democracy isn't working in the middle east today



Cairo is ablaze with civil war and these people decide to spend the day at the beach like it's just any other day. I've seen a lot of F'd up pics in my life, naked starving little children running down the street fleeing war zones, graves of mass executions of innocent people, but never have I seen anything that is as disturbing to me as the total mass contempt displayed in this picture.

Imagine if they had had the opportunity to interfere with our civil war?
Just like them, many Americans died back then. Fought brother on brother. Seemed hopeless.
Egypt has been the lead story on the nightly news shows.
And no one really gives a hoot.

This was a prediction made almost 4 years ago by the entire Tree House admin team. It is a self fulfilling prophecy that some entity will have to step into the void left by the U.S. withdrawal. Little did we know that whistleblowers who identify illegal and unconstitutional U.S. Domestic Spying programs would also be seeking Russian help.





It was clearly written between the lines in Cairo 2009, that newly elected President Obama would reflect favorable opinion of Islam;… and Islam carried to its logical conclusion is antithetical to individual freedom and liberty. The Green Movement in Iraq quickly found that out the hard way.

It seemed odd, even bizarre, to conceptualize as President Obama took office – that someone, probably Russia and/or China, would have to step in to assist burgeoning cries for Democracy or representative freedom. Bizarre as it sounded at the time, such is the current filler of the void.

EGYPT - As the situation in Egypt escalates, a source with very close ties to the Egyptian government tells Breitbart News that the country is preparing to send a diplomatic mission to Russia. As for Democracy not working in the Middle East, it doesn't really matter if it works in the West either. The people in the US are just as much slaves as they are in the MidEast. Only the visible conditions appear to be neater and cleaner with fancier gadgets and technology. Democracy is an illusion.

Thumbs up to Egypt's Military for taking the gloves off and taking this issue head on. They are going to be saving millions of lives in the future by taking out the MB and putting them in their place and keeping them out of power.

The military is doing this more out of self-interest than for the common good.
