I would like to find a backup program that will allow me to make a comlete backup of my entire system to CD.

I would like to be able to restore to my org. setup if nessary without having to install windows, updates, drivers, software etc. My thought is that I would backup a clean install (formatted drive and reloaded Win) along with the Win updates and any drivers required.

Then if need I would like to be able to reformat and install the backup. Is this possible with any of the current sofware or am I just dreaming?

You can do it quite easily by using drive imaging software like Norton Ghost or Powerquest's Drive Image. They create a snapshot of whatever is currently on your drive and you can burn them to CD, there was a link to a simple tutorial somewhere for Ghost...I'll see if I can find it.

Found it: http://www.ping.be/satcp/ghostresq01.shtml

After you create this CD you can easily boot from it and then reimage your HDD back to it's original state.

Thanks for the replies. Does anyone know if there is a down eval. download for Ghost anywhere? All I am finding is Ghost Enterprise. I don't think that is what I'm looking for.

Try Ghost
for starters. You can find it cheaper online or in retail stores. Good stuff, been using it for years.
