Any BTTF Widescreen deal may not be so hot.
BTTF disk 2 and 3 problems
Seems that you will not see the original format preserved. The studios accidently cropped off the original framing. So you will not get the entire picture. This may not matter to some, but a terrible mistake for the purist. You'll probably need to return disks 2 and 3 for replacement.

😕

Somebody please clarify this for me.

I just got BTTF (B00006AL1E) and Monster (B00005JKDR), Inc from Amazon.ca, but I have not opened yet due to confusions (possible return).

On the back of BTTF, it indicates "captioned" for English, "subtitled" for Espanol, and nothing for Fancais. Does this mean I am going to listen the whole thing in french and watch it in English closed caption? BTW it shows 5.1 surround for both English and French, though.

On the front of Monster, it shows "version Fancaise incluse", and the back of it for technical specs indicates "french language track". Is it possible that I have a version in French only?

I have checked ASIN # for both of it, and there is no difference between amazon.com and amazon.ca.

It will be appreciated if somebody who got these from Amazon.ca can confirm whether these are viewable.

No, it means Monsters Inc and BTTF has additional French Language Tracks (plus the regular stuff, like English tracks).... I have the same copies as you, for I purchased them from Amazon.ca as well...

The BTTF set sold at Amazon.ca is the same as the one sold in Amazon.com

In other words, it is the same as the ones being sold in US

Wow, this is a good deal, if the cropping gets fixed or isn't an issue. My mom will really like this, thanks for the heads up.

🙂

Thanks Jeomite and Dacalo for clarifying it for me.
I guess I am opening those as Christmas gifts, and I hope the problem of BTTF will be resolved as Universal studios promised.

got mine before Christmas...packaging is in both english and french but the DVDs are exactly the same as the ones from the US as I compared them to my roomate's

anyone received their shipments yet? I got an email saying that it was shipped Dec 12, I have no clue how slow candian mail devliery is...

RETOUR VERS LE FUTUR

is there anyway we can tell if our cropping is bad? i checked it and i can't tell the difference but i'm a noob when it comes to this dvd stuff =P you could've told me it was perfect and i'd probably believe you. is it only certain sets? or all of them? what can we look for to know if it's bad?

my dvd was shipped on the 12th and i just got it today the 29th.

I have the same question as yipperzz. Anyone know how to tell if we have one of the "bad" ones or one of the "good" ones?

That's a really good deal. Toy Storys are great movies.

Hmm. "So, the botched version will be released, and then a month or two later, a proper version will be released." I think I'll have to pass on this and wait for a no-hassles set. No hurry, I have been buying a lot of DVD's and haven't watched most of them even once and have no lack of great movies to watch. My local library has DVD's too, some great and I've been borrowing those.

there are no good ones or bad ones. Disk 2 and 3 are ALL bad. In other words, Universal messed up on ALL dvds, not just some.

The problems ARE in there, as I viewed them today. If you dont pay attention, you wont notice them.

Is this true, just cuz of the ASIN#? I just got mine from Amazon.ca and as someone mentioned, it has both English/French writing on the packaging. It even says Canadian Home Video Rating - PG on the back. What other differences are there? Does the US version have the same packaging?
