Calling these games classics....I'm with you. I'm 29 , and I can think back to my first game system...my ATARI 2600.....super pimp...
I'll have to say , Diablo 2 LOD was the game that got me back into PC gaming. this is after years ago playing Quake , and Quake 2 ...the original Doom , and of course the Duke Nukem series , and the original Warcraft. All of those games were super bad for their times. But one thing I want to find out here.
The very first PC RPG that I ever played , and the game that had me hooked like a junkie when I was younger , was a game called "Hero's Quest" I think we had an IBM 486 machine....and it was the first time I'd ever seen a role playing game. Someone here has to remember this.

Ok , I had to go looking for it , it is a VINTAGE (since we are talking about classics) Sierra game. And the original that I played when I was little , was actually re-named because of a copyright issue , to "Hero's Quest for Glory" but the new.

Wasn't Hero Quest a board game? Man I loved that game... Holy Cow! I feel really old now... There was also a really cool game called Orgr Battle or something like that... It was a board game and really really cool!

Classic games for me would have been "Snipes" or "Space Trek" or "Kingdom" essentially games from 1985ish or so. Or yeah, there was also a game called Karate or something like that.. It had CGA graphics! Awesome 4 colors... Then EGA came out (16 colors? I think). Totally cool stuff... 😀

I remember my first 286... A whopping 4.77 Mhz... The system took over 1 second or so to return 2 X 2 (not joking!). I could also type faster than it could handle... It was a strange deal, that is for sure.

Then I remember trying to play Wind Commander III (Awesome game BTW!!) on my 486 50Mhz and it took like 6 minutes to load each mission. It was painfully long, but it ran decently... Good times... Ahhhh, memory lane.

no it's not to be confused with hero quest the board game.

It was "Hero's Quest" here is a link to some screenshots.

If anyone else played the original and remembers ,I'm just going to crack up. I used to sneak out of bed at night , and downstairs to play this because my parents wouldn't let me play it. (I played to much). And now finding out that they had to change it because of a copyright suit against sierra makes it better. Because the game that I played , probably wasn't on the shelves very long.

Wow. 585 hours? I think my last save game reported around 85 hours. I finally got started on the main quest at around 75 hours.
