Supply of AMD cards being what it is and looking for an upgrade to run newer titles I ordered an ASUS 780. In comparison to what else is out now at retail the choices were limited. I have also decided that Newegg is no longer my default shopping option for desktop graphics cards.

Anybody else coming to the same conclusions?

I buy what ever card fits my price/perf desire. As for retailer, I do much the same.

AMD/Nvidia do not make products for the good of the world, and I dont buy them for the good of the world. I buy GPUs to game on, and If a company makes something I want, and I have the means to get it, I do. Brand loyalty does not give me higher FPS or game play.

Pretty much the same thing for retailers. Newegg is what I use for a lot of purchases, but most of my rig came from elsewhere. Newegg is not here to hold your hand and watch your baby, they sell things to you for money. I would bet that you have never offered a company more money than they were asking for when selecting a PC component. Thats because neither you or the retailer are in the business of charity.

Buy a card, game, have fun. You are not entitled to products, and the world is not entitled to your time or money. As long as neither of you are forced, then be happy.

Newegg is still a great place to buy parts, but video cards isn't one of them and nor are motherboards (the DOA rate on mobo's is fairly high). However other vendors like NCIX.ca or MemoryExpress aren't any better for video cards, although I live close to 3 MemoryExpress shops so I can always pick one up locally.

At least you aren't shopping on Best Buy... lol worst place to get computer parts, ever.

I bought a ref XFX 290 from bestbuy for $406 shipped close to launch. Mined a little over $200 with it and sold it for $440 so they aren't all that bad.

Newegg has had a couple of 290's for somewhat reasonable prices lately.

OP....I'm sure the red riders will miss you. Not sure about the blue boys tho.

Still could be a net loss, if you factor in electricity and don't cash out your virtual currency, before it loses it's virtue. Just saying.

I pretty much won't shop at Newegg anymore. They just aren't the same company they used to be. From what I have seen, they are the first one that jacked up their AMD GPU prices and just about every other retailer followed. I buy my parts through a local retailer now. They have competitive prices to online retailers. Even if they are a couple bucks more it's worth it to get the part same day.

I got my msi gaming 780 from newegg back when it was $500 + 10% off with Mastercard Pass, plus it came with a $30 MIR, PLUS I called newegg up after they sent me the card and asked if I could have the nvidia bundle (AC4, Batman: AO, Splinter Cell) and they said yes and sent me the game codes.

My allegiance will always fall to who has the best deals, but newegg hooked me up there. I sold those codes for about $40 after it was all said and done, bringing the end-cost of the card down to $385, which is pretty great for a gtx 780.

Newegg has always treated me well. I've had maybe a dozen RMA's w/ them through the years and all have been w/o incident. An open box Asus gtx780 DC2OC for $415 shipped was the most recent purchase from there and I've been very happy w/ it --- looks new / runs great!

The thing about the egg that got me from the get go was their customer service. I haven't tested it recently, but I have always gotten good responses whenever I've discussed issues with them. That and competitive prices got me started with newegg. When it comes to pricing on video cards, that customer service isn't worth a $150-$200 price tilt - no way.

I've spent thousands at newegg but recently I've decided that I like Amazon better the shipping is a lot faster the return process is a lot quicker as well. A lot of the time their prices are better too.

I have to turn on 4xMSAA in Crysis 3 to get my moneys worth lol

I'm back to ATI/AMD

Why?

I was very happy with my old Nvidia.
But i couldn't support nvidia pratices, at least for now. That's why i went to AMD R9 290, wich is also the gpu with the best price/performance in the mid-high segment.

You can't go wrong with either ATI or NVidia (yes, I said ATI which was a Canadian Company based out of Markham, ON).
