Thinking of going back to school when i get laid off. Maybe someone can help with info on loans.
- Is there a "cap" a person can take in living expenses relative to the cost of the school itself?
- Does Unemployment, or unemployment benefits have any weight on grants, or Finiancial Aid?
- Are Unemployment beneifts extended or shortend if you are a full time student?

All help, comments, are welcomed.

are you sure, i hear otherwise. I have been told that they will even extend unemployment benefits if you are laid off. It was told this:

"Unemployment is extended depending on what type of schooling you decide to do. Often times they'll ask what type of work you did and if there is a demand for that type of job then they wont allow you to go back to school and still recieve benefits. You have to look for work and document it. Some programs they dont support either.

I got laid off a while back and decided to do the same thing. When I checked the box that said "Have you started any school or vocational training" they held my check. So I ended up going an extra 2 weeks without the cash after fighting with them over schooling.

Unemployment rewards lying and sitting on your ass. Just dont tell them your going to school. It's tons of red tape and unemployment comensation isn't much money at all. Missing a check for a couple of weeks will really hurt."

I was simply asking questions. No one is "Defrauding the government."
As far as my plans go I am planning on taking a LOAN. If i am laid off i WILL fill out the paper work as i am "unemployed" As a matter of fact i would be a "Displaced Worker" becaue of the size of the layoff. I pay my taxes, get off it.

2. Yes.
3. No.

Basics. I just bought new a home in Febuary. Im trying to go to community college for 2 years and transfer to a State college.

1. Communtiy college is Cheap, it would be about 65oo hunded MAX for 2 years. When you take a school loan you can also take $$ for "Living Expenses" since i pay rent/mortgage, that would be my "Living expense" I know there is a CAP or % on the amout of the loan that can be used for "living expenses" vs the amount of the loan. Could you reasonably take a loan where the expenses other than Tuition are 75% of the loan itself?
2. In a good way or a bad way?

if i get laid off i will get a sizable packacge, i will also cash out my 401k. With that cash NOW would be the best for me to go back to school full time. I DO NOT want to use any extra money from a part time job to pay mortgage. Paying mortgage as a single person with no roommate - i dont think i would be able to go to school full time.
