the will-be release Athlon 64 vs. Pentium 4 is really anticipating at the moment. Back to about 2 years, the newly released P4 is really anticipating because it is up against the Athlon Thunderbird. But it created disappointment. So it is now to see whether A64 is up again against P4.

i think AMD's whole 64-bit line is going to be the shot in the arm theyve been needing ever since p4's hit to get them motivated, and take back the crown :)

The more appropriate question might be: "can anyone afford an Athlon 64?" Many of us want but few will be able to swing the jack it will take to get an A64 system in the first few months after they are released. Similar to the Barton chips. I couldn't afford one for 3 months. When they dipped below $100 I jumped. I will be willing to pay $200 for an A64, however. :)

so true, i got one when it dipped below $100 aswell, but remeber back in the day whenthe first slotA came out- those were just as expensive

If it brings back competition, I'll be happy. Nothing drives prices down and quality up like good competition. :)
