I hope this lawsuit gets dismissed as well because it is completely out of line. There are so many softwares out there that allow people to decrypt or burn DVD's and they havent been charged. For example, Instant Copy made by Pinnacle is very widely used to copy DVD's but I dont see a lawsuit against them. There are two key issues over here:
1) If he put a disclaimer in the software that it can only be used for legal purposes, then the case will be dismissed because I sure know that Instant Copy, DVD shrink and other software have that in their disclaimer/user agreement.
2) He is a small fish and the MPAA feels that going after him is going to be easy. In any case, if there is fund to help him with his case, I will definitely be among many to throw some money into it.
