On Saturday I woke up and had a pain in my back whenever I looked down, or inhaled deeply. I don't remember doing anything to it the night before so I assumed I just slept on it weird or injured it while drunk...

Now almost a week later the pain is serious in the morning but by the time i get out of the shower i barely feel it anymore. Its like some muscle tightens up completely over night and then is fine once warmed up. Its hard to get out of bed even, but now I can barely recreate the pain unless i really arch my back or inhale deeply for a sneeze.

Does this make sense at all? I don't know what I could have done...

Yeah, it makes sense. What position do you sleep in regularly? Considering it increases in the morning consistently, that's saying your position is aggravating something. It seems you're gonna have to change that up to get some consistent relief.
