What are the rectangle like silver with black/grey middle things on the back of pcb. I think I found the top of one in the bottom of my case but everything has been fine before and after I found it.

I'm not even sure what it's come off if it is one and wondering if it's something I should try work out where it came from?

I don't have a picture of what it is on me, so i tried to find a high res picture of a board with the thing and managed to find this from a video card review.

It looked like 1/2 of something that looks like the thing labelled c145 only smaller I think, probably the size of the one above left of it.

That's a resistor.

C145 there would be a capacitor. A grey thing is also likely a capacitor, and darker black is probably a resistor.

A resistor being missing is likely an issue. A capacitor missing can be a problem, but not always. You could try to find where it came from, but that might be a considerable challenge.

Thanks guys, seeing the system seems to be fine and it sounds like tracking down where it came from isn't going to be easy I guess i'll wait and see if it starts to become unstable before pursuing it further.

Just to point out: these are not components that just fall off randomly. So if you are finding them randomly on the floor of the case, that suggests either physical damage (maybe during install), or pretty severe overheating.
