It looks nice and I dig how small it is, but it looks like it only has en axternal wire for line in on your soundcard.. that could be annoying. the studio pctv has some internals and even allows you to switch what they show up as on your mixer.

It does only connect via an external cable, but from what I hear of the PCTVs and Pinnacle's support, I'd take that little cable, stable drivers and a great software bundle any day over it. :)

Not meaning to thread crap but ... if you are using VirtualDub to capture, steer clear of this card. I bought one and the max capture resolution in VirtualDub was 320x240. If you use the bundled software, you can do all the way up to 720x480. I believe it is a limitation of the Connexant chip ... not sure why, though.

Yeah, I thought that everyone said the Leadtek is the best TV tuner, now this? Are they the same maybe?

if you have more money to burn, you can get a Fusion HDTV tuner card for around $160.

anyone using card able to use it on the second monitor in a dual monitor set up? when I move the video window to my second monitor, the picture cuts out. just get a black scrren. however, I still get sound. just wondering if there is something in the prefs that I missed.

otherwise, this is a nice card with a great picture.

That's actually very inexpensive for an HD card. I think it's the one that decodes MPEG in software to cut costs, but I hear it works well. It is also the cheapest way to get into HDTV.

The Leadtek is supposed to be much better than stuff from Hauppage and I'm guessing it's the same with the Asus.

Is this the same with Asus TV 880?

How's this compare to Leadtek TV 2000XP?

been waiting for that to go back in stock. After reading all the reviews, I've determined that many people are satisfied w/ this one using good software. not only did this go back in stock, but it went on sale again too. i missed out on the last one. got this and a refurbished Antec Red LED fan that someone probably didn't like. will look good in my case tho.

I've used the BT878 chipset (same one as the lower quality leadtek ones use, the XP and the XP deluxe. The higher end XP Expert uses the same Cognexant chip as the Asus), as and currently have this Asus TV880 card. The Asus card is definitely better, no 2 ways about it.

A few days ago, I got dScaler (v4.1.6) working with the Asus card, and the quality is amazing. If you have one of these Asus cards, you really owe it to yourself to give dScaler a try for TV watching.

I also bought one of the new Philips SA chipset cards (the Flyvideo 3000 TV/FM, 9-bit SAA7133 chip). I haven't gotten this to work with my 7505 chipset mobo yet, but from what I hear, the Cognexant 10-bit chip has a bit more resolution, but it also has a bit more noise in the picture. Color shift is about the same between the two.

Slightly off topic, but I installed dscaler yesterday, and I have a ATI AIW 8500DV, yet it says no compatible hw found?

That's because Dscaler does not work with AIW cards, it only works with Conextant chip cards.

I had the leadtek card and was disappointed with its capture quality. Would you way this one is "much" better, or only slightly ?

The tv@nywhere uses a version of the Cognexant chip that the Asus uses. However, it's a more limited one, and can only output mono sound for NTSC. The visual quality is the same though.

yea..only mono. the software detected stereo (but i cant tell cuz my hearing cant distinguish stereo/mono) at one point, but after updating drivers, only mono was availble.
