Back from vacation blues

Just got back from a 16 day trip to Europe. Visited Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands, Liechtenstein, Belgium, France, and England.

Paris is absolutely the most beautiful city I have ever seen.

Toward the end of the trip, I really wanted to get back to the United States. Now, a day later, I really miss Europe. Part of me is dreading going back to work tomorrow, but I really just miss the whole European culture. Things seem so much more simple and human over there.

I have a feeling I'll be back to my "cog in the corporate machine" self within a week though.

At least you're not in Detroit. We have a lot of music artists coming out of this city, but the city itself has no soul. Living in the suburb doesn't help either.

I agree with you there, I was beginning to miss all the conveniences we have here in the states. Somehow I think I just need to move to a city that is more diverse and have more culture. Detroit just isn't cutting it.

Maybe Chicago...

I absolutely LOVED Switzerland, but everything costs so damn much there. It was 10 swiss francs for a pint of beer! I was in Lucerne and it was a nice little city with good night life. Drinking water from the tap was better than Evian, fresh mountain water

I'm not a big fan of France, but I just fell in love with Paris. I wish I was there with a girl, it was such a romantic city.

Italy wasn't all that great, it is so poor and Rome is more of a slum than Detroit.

I was going to ask how you liked Switzerland. I went camping near Bern for a week about 6 years ago. It's so damn clean and the people were awesome.

I know what you mean about Rome. Was there about a month ago and a mother and her kids tried to steal my dad's wallet (unsuccesfully) and another time this guy looked like he might've tried to mug us (he was walking towards us, and as soon as we passed him, he turned around and started following us - until I let him know I saw him and stared him down)

And we were only in Rome for 3.5 days!

I thought the beaches in Italy would have been a lot nicer than they were. Rome and Venice were awesome though. The Coloseum is cool as hell. They are dudes there dressed up in Gladiator armor and hot chicks in togas that you can pose with for pictures(for a modest tip).

They are incredible, with Italian women topping the list. You kinda get desensitize after a while though, there are just too many of them around. Coming back to Detroit, all I see are women with guts sticking out, it makes me miss Europe more!
