You have got to be kidding me? Obviously SCC has no one that can drive. A Cobra R is good for low to mid 12's. Can I get a 50 rock for that 13.4?

<< And mr. millenium, i don't appreciate being accused of smoking crack. i'm just quoting what SCC came up with. >>

You might not smoke crack, but you certainly have never learned to read. I asked if you smoked crack. Notice the ? at the end?

<< You and SCC smoke crack right? >>

You read what you typed. The way you formulated that phrase any person would gather that as an accusation, albeit a subtle one. Additionally, your statement on "Crack must be big in the import scene" was totally uncalled for.

I have to agree with Millenium - SCC can't drive worth a crap - they're just used to this FWD stuff with no torque - they probably spent 90% of the time doing burn outs because they can't handle the Cobra R rather than actually learning how to drive it.

Damnit I was close (274). Knew it would be in the 27x range

And i agree just as well. Started disbelieving SCC after a somewhat-interesting argument between them and the Maxima community. The only reason i buy the mag nowadays is to look at their updates of wheel weights.

Btw, the Lotus is RWD.

Crack must be big in the import scene. It really must. Why else would anyone take an economy car and expect it to compete with a sports car?

So you generalize that the import scene smokes crack just because of this? tsk. tsk.

I wouldn't consider the Lotus to be just any economy car, though it does have good gas mileage it's also just as much of a performance car as a Mustang. Power isn't everything.

Power to weight? The Lotus has the Cobra beat. Torque to weight? The Cobra has the Lotus beat.

But you also have to consider, just how much torque does one need to move a 1700lb. car anyway? Once it starts moving HP plays a more imporant role then.

So let's keep this discussion clean. No name-calling.

I apologize Notfred. Didn't mean to crap on your thread.

I just couldn't understand why millenium posted what he did.

<< Hey Notfred, wanna race? :p >>

only if you can put down similar power to me on the dyno :p

And for the record: A 2000 Cobra R will run right about 13.0 in the 1/4 mile.

Hehe... Congrats on the numbers. Was it what you expected, or were you hoping for more? :p To me, it sounds about right for a "mostly stock" 5.0 w/6psi (mostly stock = stock heads/cam). Have you taken the car to the 1/4 mile?

(I used to have an '83 Mustang that ran 12.8@109 .. all motor, no "power adder")

:D

my dyno graph

I haven't taken it to the track since last summer, and I don't want to post those numbers :)
I'm planning to go back in a couple weeks, I'll post times then.

rootaxs all things aside you came in a mustang dyno thread to extoll the joys of imports. I for the most part like some imports. I just can't stand when bench racers show up to say what if. If I really did offend you then I apologize. If you wish to discuss this further you can pm me.

Regards,
Evan

<< 276.1 real wheel horsepower, 315.1 rear wheel torque.

Corrected (with the standard 15%) for drivetrain loss, that comes out t be roughly 325hp, and 371ft'lbs at the flywheel.

The dyno guy said (and I'd have agreed, even before I took my car in today) that a tune (on the dyno) and custom burnt chip could probably push those numbers up 25-30 more horspower.
>>

Some kickbutt torque you got there Notfred. Thats a sound investment.

That's the first time I've seen a dyno graph with MPH on the horizontal axis rather than RPM. ?? In any case, that's a nice, flat torque curve :)

My guess is that if you have good tires, you'll probably do low 13's at the track. What gears are you running?

Actually, I've got a graph with RPM, too, but it didn't print very nicely. Jsut substitute 45mph with 2600rpm, and 110 with 5800rpm, and that's how the numbers would look :)

I have very little traction. I need new tires. I'm running 3.73 gears.
