Back from getting my car dyno'ed. *updated with pictures*

That's just another way for the state to take more of your money. Considering the fact that all new cars come with more than is required in the way of immisions control, why is it that they make you get a one year old car tested on the dynomometer? It's all about the greenbacks.

Where I live, in most places you can pay a bit extra to the owner/mechanic and he'll "fix" any problem your car may have in passing the test. Rhode Island is the most corrupt state in the country according to many, and from my standpoint they are right.

Besides that the test is flawed. They put a sensor at the end of your tailpipe, but what if your exhaust is not connected tightly? It will test on the low emmisions side and you're off to the races. Gotta love the way the government thinks of any way they can to screw you. I know many mechanics who agree with me, but god forbid they voice their opinion, or they lose their job, or worse yet, their license to do inspections.

<< They put a sensor at the end of your tailpipe, but what if your exhaust is not connected tightly? >>

a new car can tell that, and the check engine light will come on, and you can't pass inspection with that light on.

276.1 real wheel horsepower, 315.1 rear wheel torque.

Corrected (with the standard 15%) for drivetrain loss, that comes out t be roughly 325hp, and 371ft'lbs at the flywheel.

The dyno guy said (and I'd have agreed, even before I took my car in today) that a tune (on the dyno) and custom burnt chip could probably push those numbers up 25-30 more horspower.

he has a mustang.. he can tell you more about it

He's got a blown 5.0

Fastz28 guess 278. I guessed 279. Genocide guessed 325. I put my as RWHP. I don't know if that is what they did or if that is what they meant.

I put rwhp in my original post, so fastZ28 gets the prize with 278 hp. As soon as he pm's me his address, I'll think of something to send him 🙂

DAMN! I was hoping you would forget that you specified RWHP 😛 heheh, can't say I didn't try.

Well, if you guess 325 rwhp next time I take it to the dyno, it'll probably be pretty damn close.

Nice numbers. 🙂

Speaking of Mustangs... SCC made a head to head comparison between the Mustang Cobra R and the Lotus Elise. Guess who won in everything from skidpad, quarter mile, 0-60, breaking?

Yep. The Lotus Elise with it's (rather dinky) Honda Integra Type-R 1.6L engine.

Goes to show weight and good gearing is always a good thing. I'm amazed at how their dyno numbers fall within 2-5hp & tq on the wheels from the crank.

Elise beat the cobra r in the1/4??? You and SCC smoke crack right? Crack must be big in the import scene.

Read it for yourself.. Then again, i don't really trust SCC that much. Same people who insist that the 2k2 Maxima runs 7's 0-60.

And mr. millenium, i don't appreciate being accused of smoking crack. i'm just quoting what SCC came up with.
