back and neck issues

My girlfriend is having issues with her neck and back. It started a couple days ago, just light pain. Then she woke up yesterday and had a hard time moving her neck. Today she can't move her back or neck.

We tried Bengay pads. Didn't help. I tried massaging, didn't help. Her back feels like a rock. I told her she needs to relax and do some movements, but she isn't trying too hard.

None of the chiropractors in the area are open now, any suggestions?

Thanks.

My preferred thing is heat packs for about 15 minutes, followed by ice packs for about 15 minutes. repeat for an hour or so, then give the parts affected a break, and repeat a couple of hours later.
What did she do to cause this? NOT generally something that happens without a reason.

We took a trip up to Chicago and some other driving yesterday, she thinks that is a part of it. She is not sure of the cause.

Go buy a heating pad, a cold pack, and some ibuprofin.

Liek BoomerD said, but I prefer to take a break between heat and cold.

We are on it, she already had those things as well! just need to use them! Thanks. Any other suggestions are welcome.

I picked up one of these roll pillows at walgreens for around $10. Feels good to have proper support behind the neck while on the couch or in the car
