*NERD FIGHT!*

B5 > DS9
5-year story arc, lots of suspense stretched out over multiple episodes.

I would rank them B5 > TNG > DS9, but B5 is waaaaaay out in the front. Don't get me wrong I like them all, but Babylon 5 had much better writing even from the get go than the other two.

Babylon 5 is the only sci fi show that both my wife and I absolutely hated.. awful writing with TONS of plotholes, horrid acting, and it didn't tie up a majority of the loose ends at the end of the series.. awful show.

Why pick the worst scifi done?

DS9
They could have done it all in a few seasons if they would have just skipped all the fluff episodes. Then it would have been good.

Babylon 5
The 80's 90's overall feel and some bad actor selections were big mistakes. Great story though, just they didnt deliver it well enough for it to be good.

TNG
Nostalgia is all it is, about everything and nothing with no goal.

Now on to the actual good scifi :)

Stargate
Farscape
Andromeda (okok, started well, ended bad)
Firefly (just got better and better)
Battlestar Galactica

shadow9d9 was probably one out of a million who probably did not understand the plot lines.

Babylon5 rocked!

I watched ST TOS and Lost In Space when that first aired, so I have a lot of baggage. ;)

B5 rocked. Watched all 5 seasons where I got bored with all the Rick Bergman Star Trek carp by the 2nd season of each series as the rehashed old plots from every other series that ever aired. Liked the characters and actors/actresses, just hated the plots. DS9 did the best of breaking out of that mold.

Others I liked and have faded into the past - UFO, Space 1999 (3rd season got strange), Thunderbirds (watched it as a Sat cartoon as a kid), Jonny Quest (original), Greatest American Hero (got boring but Connie Selleca FTW), Buck Rogers (got boring on 3rd season, but Erin Grey FTW), BSG, Salvage (with Andy Griffith), and a couple that have been gone so long I forget the names (one had a character called Jerrod).

Wow, I would be ashamed if I were BSG and were put on a list with the rest of that rubbish.

I watched all 5 seasons to get through it... to say that I gave the whole thing a chance.. besdies, with limited sci fi out there, it wasn't like I was rushing to get to anything else...

My wife too.. and it wasn't about not understanding.. it was simple simple stuff... the problem was the ton of plotholes and inconsistencies and nonsensical happenings... and the fact that they overplayed the same ideas... etc...

I hope not... they are both mediocre.

5-year arc with an actual plot that lasted more than two shows

Ds9 had a plot that lasted about 20-25 episodes.. the dominion war arc including 75% of the last season, season finale of season 5 into the first 6 or so of season 6, etc... AND the plotline was amazing to boot!

Of course, the Shadow Arc had the fantastic ending of both of the 2 races needing to be told by mommy and daddy to stop warring for no reason.. real satisfying! And the fact that it left about 5 main plots hanging wide open for no reason, opting to leave the viewer feeling like they wasted their time.. and of course, you have to buy about 10 books to finish those plots! Money in their pocket... what a crock of sh*t...

Add in the godawful acting, nonsensical plotholes, and the worst first season of a show EVER, even surpassing tng.

I'd say Babylon 5's graphics were great in space but there sets looked like crap, where DS9 had great sets and great space graphics.

I liked them both though. So I couldn't pick one over the other.

EDIT: So I voted TNG which was better than both.
