Tolkien space ripoff.

It had its moments, but as was said earlier, it definitely jumped the shark more than once.

A strange mix of some of the best and worst writing and acting in recent sci-fi history. Many of the attempts at poetry and comedy would often fall embarrassingly flat. Claudia Christian as Susan Ivanova and Mira Furlan as Delenn had some particularly bad scenes and lines in a number of episodes. That being said I have yet to see many series create as compelling and addicting long range story arc. Many of the characters were also very nicely fleshed out, especially Peter Jurasik as Londo Mollari and Jerry Doyle as Michael Garibaldi.

There are far worse Sci-Fi series that still get regular air time.

Yea, that's a good summation of it, actually. While some episodes were great, others were just like filler. But many good series suffer that fate.

I was disappointed the Crusade spin off didn't last at least a few seasons. It failed I think because they kept showing it out of order and preempting it with WRESTLING, dumb ass TNT.

I have all of it on dvd. I recently started watching it again, wow compared to startrek TNG the graphics really sucked in the space scenes. Even decent had better graphics.

TNG didn't have "graphics", they had models.

B5 did have some bad CGI, though I guess that comes with the territory of being the first TV show to really use it. What's really too bad though is the poor transfer to DVD of the CGI shots. There's some story about that... I think they had filmed the show in 'widescreen', but just rendered the CGI in 4:3, figuring they could re-render in whatever widescreen ratio they were using, but then they "lost" all the graphics models, so they couldn't re-render and just had to use what they already had. The DVDs look especially bad on any combined live-action/CGI shots. I've seen some people want to see B5 released on Bluray or whatever, but I don't think they should bother unless they're going to go back and fix all the CGI. If anyone saw the 'Lost Tales' DVD, there's some really nice looking CGI on there that they did really cheaply, I'd love to see the whole series done that way, but it's probably unlikely.

I have the lost tales dvd's but I have not watched them yet.

Pretty sure TNT had basically canceled it before it was even aired. "creative differences".
