BA4800 speakers not working properly (what's wrong?)

I've had my Boston Acoustics for about a month and a half. Yesterday I noticed the left front (not the one with volume controls) was slightly staticy and the volume was considerably lower than the right front speaker. I've checked all my settings on my Santa Cruz and all the cable conections and everthing seems to be in order. What do you think is going on? Did I blow the left front?

Called Boston Acoustics on the phone and they told me to send it to them for repair.

Hey, I've had the EXACT problem. I've found the cables that are shipped with the BA's are somewhat faulty. Wiggle them around, maybe you need to unplug them or something. The cables I'm referring to are the ones that go from the sub to the soundcard. Also, check the cable that goes to the left speaker.

It's a pain, but the value these things have is awesome. I haven't had any problems in a while, even with the shipped cables. Maybe they just need a good break-in. Don't send them back until you try messing with the cables. Wiggle them around and try what I said. It fixed mine.

Good luck and happy listening!

You were right. All the cables were plugged in securely, but when I wiggled the cables connected to the sub the left front speaker started playing properly. Now what should I do? Do you think the cables or the speakers are defective?

My guess is the cables. I haven't had that problem recently, though. Maybe they need a good break-in, but that's just stupid.

Do you move your cables often?
