Funny you should mention crappy service. I recently visited the Fry's near Portland [Oregon] and found it to be a 180 degree turn from all of the Fry's in San JOse. Employees are nice, helpful, won't try to push-sale you something, non-argumentative [or so I haven't seen it yet], and it doesn't feel stuffy or stressful. I haven't tried returning something [Portland Fry's], but as I said, I haven't heard anybody argue.

When they opened the Fry's in Orange County, CA. the place was a zoo. They had alot of stuff like mice & power strips for $.99. Only problem was the line to check out went all the way around the store.... About a 2 hour wait.

Best deal would be to go with a buddy & take turns shopping & standing in line.

Ditto for the Wilsonville store. Great service, no lines, the sales staff helped me find everything I was looking for -- and best of all, no tax!

I hear they're opening a Fry's in the Seattle area too, on one of Boeing's old (gigantic) alternate parking lots.
