That's really odd. I've honestly never seen that on any of my nooks. When there's more in stock I would consider going in to replace it.

It has not happened again, so I think I am ok.
How is yours Gorcorps?
Seems great so far to me. I am not sure why they did not have this glowlight feature from the beggining.

I really like it. The glowlight is the final major feature I've wanted in an ereader, so IMO it's exactly what I've been wanting for years. There will always be more tweaks like faster page turns, better contrast, etc... but outside of getting color using e-ink tech I can't imagine wanting anything more.

Just got mine today. I got the last unit in stock at the local B&N. What's that 3rd party app people use to sideload books to a nook? I can't remember the name, but it starts with a C.

The only thing I heard is what glen posted above, and that sounded like a few isolated hiccups than an actual problem. Some people may have issues with the slight change in lighting near the top of the screen where the LEDs are, but that's a limit of the technology... not a quality issue. I suppose they could have created an even larger bezel (it's already quite big to make it more ergonomic) and then set the LEDS higher so you don't notice that effect as much, but that's nit picking.

That's not user replaceable though is it?

No, and everything I've heard has said you shouldn't use a different one because it will screw up the protector that's already on it (generally if you try to remove the one you put on it). It may as well be baked onto the screen though, because there's no noticeable seams like your usual screen protector. Just seems like a more matte screen, which IMO was already pretty glare free in the first place.

I actually don't need it for the anti-glare feature. I need it to Protect the screen. I've already read of small scratches 'causing the light to look different.

Get a case. E-ink screens really don't need a protector.

Finally got mine. Put an M-Edge screen protector on it and it's fine. Also tried the B&N branded screen protector for the regular Simple Touch. Neither screen protectors affect the light at all. I've tried removing them as well and they didn't harm the screen.

And I still say screen protectors are unncessary on e-ink readers, dammit. :p

I did, however, get a book-like case for my Glowlight, keep the dust off and protect it when not in use.

What do you think will scratch the screen? It's not hard plastic or glass...

Does it matter? My screen is more protected now. I remember the screens on some of my older PDAs getting scratched by dust on the end of a stylus.
